PAL’s Story

Hiring freezes prompted a review of whether the Performing Arts Library (PAL) service point could be absorbed into existing operations while maintaining support for students and faculty. Although PAL is located in the Performing Arts building where most classes are taught, its placement was intended to be temporary after the Mannes School of Music relocated downtown a decade ago.

Using the same Access & User Services FY25 data (July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025) as the Pick Me Up: What counts as fulfillment? visual essay, I analyzed PAL-specific statistics to assess whether services could be consolidated into the two remaining branches, one just down the street.

The resulting data visualization informed collaborative decision-making by Libraries and College of Performing Arts administrators.
