Past & Future: Linear footage across library locations
Over the course of several semesters, the Libraries have undertaken a series of strategic moves, consolidations, and analyses to determine what constitutes an ideal, sustainable onsite collection for the university. The data collected from Spring 2025 through Spring 2026—during major space transitions—provides a strong evidence base for establishing 4,000 linear feet (LF) as the optimal onsite capacity and approximately 3,150 LF as the ideal occupancy. A 4,000 LF capacity onsite is the smallest collection that remains academically functional, operationally sound, and mission-aligned.
